A River Runs Through It

Winding and meandering languidly through the Northern Marches, the Placid River stretches across the width of the known regions. Draining from the western edge of the Purple Mountains, through the Leaden Hills to the northwestern edge of the Misty Vale, meandering and gathering the run off of countless forests, hills and plains that surround the Vale.

Background: Western Purple Mountains. Middle Ground: Te Leaden Hills. Foreground: The Placid River.

Once into the rolling plains of the Misty Vale, the Placid River slows to a crawl, meandering slowly south, then turning east, cutting across the valley towards the Coast of Tears.

Throughout the Vale, many outposts, villages, fortifications lie within eye shot of the river, if not directly on its banks. Although currently, many of these are ruins or remnants of a former age or incursion.
